Online Sambalpur Team Wishes Happy Raksha Bandhan
Rakhsha Bandhan – A bond of love and togetherness
Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the sacred bond between a brother and a sister. While ‘Raksha’ stands for safety, ‘Bandhan’ means bond, hence highlighting the protective nature of brother-sister relationship and the love the two share.
The festival of Rakhi is observed during the shravan or sawan month during full moon day or Purnima day. This year, it will be celebrated on August 11, wherein sisters will buy beautifully crafted rakhis (wrist bands) for their brothers. On this day, sisters tie the rakhis on their brothers’ wrist, apply tilak on their forehead and pray for their long life. In return, the brothers pamper their sisters with gifts, presents, and money.
Furthermore, besides the exchange of rakhis and gifts, brothers and sisters promise to protect each other from all evils. That said, Raksha Bandhan is also a festival that signifies the love, protection, loyalty, and care brothers and sisters share with one another.
