Vishwakarma Puja will be celebrated on September 17 and is also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti and Bhadra Sankranti. The day marks the auspicious celebration of the birth of Lord Vishwakarma, who was the son of Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma was the chief architect of the world. He built the holy city of Dwarka, where Lord Krishna ruled and also the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas. Lord Vishwakarma is known to be the creator of many things, among which magnificent weapons are significant. He is known to design the world. He is mentioned in the Rig Veda and is credited with Sthapatya Veda, the science of mechanics and architecture. He is depicted with four hands holding a book, a scale, measuring tape, and pot in Hindu mythology. He was also considered to be the creator of many magnificent weapons for the gods and thus is also known as the divine carpenter.

Lord Vishwakarma is the son of Lord Brahma. He created Dwarka Nagri and also helped his father Brahma is creating the universe. He is the creator of all the palaces and weapons of the Gods and Goddesses. It is an important day for all the craftsmen and artisans. On this day people perform rituals at their workplaces. This is celebrated in full fervour by labourers, carpenters and mechanics. According to sacred Hindu tradition, Vishwakarma is known as the Divine Engineer of the world. Like every other God, Vishwakarma is assigned a day that is his birthday or Jayanti that is Vishwakarma Jayanti. Since he is known as the original creator of the world, he existed a few days before he created the world. Vishwakarma had five Sons and two Daughters. Names of sons – Mannu, Maidev, Tavashta, Shilpi and Devagya. The divine craftsman Vishwakarma is the presiding deity of all craftsmen and architects. Son of Brahma, he is the divine craftsman of the whole universe, and the official builder of all the gods’ palaces.
