Panchuka 2021: Kartika Month’s Auspicious Five Days

Panchuka is the last five days of Kartika, the Hindu holy month, during which most Odisha residents abstain from eating non-vegetarian cuisine.

In 2021, Panchuka will begin on November 15 and end on November 19.

On this day, many devotees, particularly widows, travel from all over Odisha to Puri to see the deities at the Shree Jagannath Temple.

Those who are unable to observe the rites throughout the month of Kartika can do so during the last five days.

Panchuka begins on Ekadasi day and ends on Kartika Purnima during the Shukla Paksha in Kartika.
