Sambalpur: Police Crackdown on Dark Zones Continues; Over 40 Drunkards Arrested in a Single Night

Sambalpur: Sambalpur police have stepped up their efforts to combat the growing problem of intoxicated people gathering in dark areas. These poorly lit areas had become hotspots for drinking and possible criminal activity, causing concern among local residents.

On Wednesday night, Ainthapali and Bareipali police stations conducted joint raids throughout the city. More than 40 people were detained during the operation after being discovered intoxicated in public places.

Police officials stated that these raids are part of a larger effort to improve public safety and reduce nuisance in the city. The action is in response to repeated complaints from citizens about drunk people causing havoc in dimly lit areas.

According to police sources, the presence of inebriated people in these areas has been linked to minor crimes like theft, vandalism, and assault. The crackdown is intended to reduce these incidents and provide a safer environment for the community.

The police have emphasized that this operation is part of a larger initiative, with plans for ongoing surveillance and additional raids to keep these dark zones from becoming havens for criminal activity. They also intend to locate and prosecute those who illegally supply alcohol to these individuals.
