Doctor’s Video Sparks Reaction
Dr. Shankar Ramchandani of Burla Vimsar posted a video yesterday in which he made serious allegations. He described seeing a group of young men and women in two cars causing havoc on the road, making lewd gestures at passing road users, resulting in a traffic jam. This prompted the Burla police to open a case. They seized two vehicles on Monday and arrested the owner on Tuesday. The police filed Case number 357/24 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. They placed the accused in judicial custody after denying bail. ASP Haresh Kumar Pandey stated that the investigation is still ongoing, and the police will arrest the other driver soon as well.
Influence Allegations
The police reportedly hesitated to arrest the driver and the youths involved in the obscene behavior due to external pressure. Sources claim that the arrested individual is a close associate of a former minister who has longstanding ties to the police. Reports suggest that initially, some individuals attempted to prevent the filing of the case.
