Sambalpur: Rules Ignored; Late-Night Parties Continue at Dhaba Despite Police Orders, Concern Citizens
Sambalpur: Baba Dhaba, located near Godbhaga on the Sambalpur-Bargarh Highway, has repeatedly been accused of violating government regulations. Despite the fact that the dhaba falls under the jurisdiction of Burla Police Station, the authorities have taken no action. According to the law, roadside dhabas must close at midnight. The police have informed 22 dhabas between Sambalpur and Godbhaga about the rule and instructed nighttime patrol vehicles to monitor compliance.

Violations at Baba Dhaba
However, Baba Dhaba is reportedly open all night, violating the rules. This two-story establishment frequently hosts parties on the upper level, with DJ music playing until as late as 3 a.m. Wealthy young men and women from Sambalpur and Burla attend these parties and drive home in their cars, often intoxicated, breaking traffic rules along the way. Their reckless driving endangers other travelers on the highway.
Safety Concerns and Public Demand
After midnight, trucks are purposefully parked in front of the dhaba, obscuring the ongoing activities from the outside. There is growing concern that reckless driving by intoxicated youths leaving the dhaba late at night will result in accidents that endanger other travelers. Citizens in areas such as Gosala and Ambasadha Katapali demand that the police take strict action to ensure that all dhabas close by midnight.
