Sambalpur: 12th CRPF Battalion is expected to be raised off from Sambalpur soon and shifted to Nabarangpur

Sambalpur: 12th CRPF battalion is expected to be raised off from Sambalpur soon. Necessary infrastructure is being prepared in Nabarangpur for this CRPF battalion. The construction of the building has reached its final stage. According to the reliable sources, the headquarters of this battalion will be shifted from Sambalpur to Nabarangpur district by the end of next March.

This CRPF battalion came to Sambalpur in 2008-09 after the rise of Maoist movement in Sambalpur district. With its headquarters near the Sambalpur Jail, the camps were located in riot-prone areas of the district. Meanwhile, Sambalpur district has been declared a Maoist-free district. Now no more Maoist movement is observed in Sambalpur district. Hence, the army officer have been withdrawn from the camps and deployed in other militant areas of the state. Apart from the officers, around 2000 army officer live here and they come forward to help in case of law and order situation. Along with this, public welfare work is also being done by CRPF.

On the other hand, after the declaration of Sambalpur as a Maoist-free district, the necessary facilities are provided by the state government through the district police. The electricity connection has also been cut since last June 2021. The CRPF is now meeting its needs through solar power and generators after power cuts due to non-payment of electricity bills.
