Sambalpur: 15 lakh robbery in Gengutipali, mother and son arrested, 4 lakh seized
Sambalpur Sadar police have arrested two people in connection with the robbery. The arrested are the mother and son of the accused. They were identified as Raghav Das, 19, and his mother, Parvati Das, 35, of Kandasahi in Ganjam district. Of the Rs 15 lakh looted, only Rs 4 lakh was seized. They are being held in Birmaharajpur, Tusra and Raikia police stations. However, three other members of the gang have fled, police trying to catch them. On January 31, Rs 15 lakh was looted from Rajesh Sahu, a lawyer from Kuluthkani area under Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation. Four robbers on two bikes came and looted the money bag from his hand in front of Lalmohan Jena’s house near the Gangutipali Shiva temple. Following the allegations, the Sadar Police Station Filed a case on 23/2022.
A special team was formed on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Gangadhar Batula. Cyber cell help was also taken. According to the cell, the special team went to Aska and Bhanjanagar. The main accused in the case was arrested and questioned by police. On the day of the incident, the looters looted and returned to the national highway with money. They stopped at boudh district Manamunda Godbhaga in Sonepur. Throwing away the mobile used on the way to the canal, They also burned the clothes they was wearing. As a result, the police had a lot of trouble catching the culprit.
Earlier, the accused had looted Rs 19,000 from Birmaharajpur in Subarnapur district on January 26 and Rs 10,000 valuables in Tusra in Balangir district on January 7. However, the accused returned after leaving the bike used at Sambalpur a short distance away as the locals chased him while they were returning after the robbery.The bikes used in the robbery were stolen from the Raikia police station area on November 1, 2021.
