Sambalpur: 25 Asst. Professor joined Burla Vimsar, Doctor selection process for super specialty dept. continues said Vimsar Director
Burla: The patients of various districts of West Odisha and neighboring Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh depend on VIM for good health care. Shortage of doctors is one of the major problems of Vimsar and the authorities of Vimsar have taken steps to overcome it. In the meantime, doctors have been selected for 14 departments and the relevant doctors have also joined the work.
Professor Lalit Meher, director of Vimsar, said that 25 new assistants have been recruited in 14 departments, 3 in the Department of Medicine, 2 in the Department of Biochemistry, 3 in the Department of Community Medicine, 2 each in the Department of General Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Dentistry. Department of Psychiatry, General Medicine, Pharmacology, Pulmonary Medicine and other departments have been joined by one doctor each. By this, the shortage of doctors can be partially overcome and better health services can be provided to the patients, Prof. Meher expressed hope.
Apart from this, in 2015, Vimsar joined the autonomous status. Out of the 10 super specialty departments in the newly opened pathology department, the selection process for 5 departments such as plastic surgery, neurology, urology, cardiology and nephrology has been completed, while the selection process for the other 5 departments is continuing. Professor Meher expressed the hope that soon they will join Vimsar and provide better healthcare to patients.
