Sambalpur: 3 members of the family were brutally killed; Father was sentenced to death by hanging, son sentenced to life imprisonment
Verdict in Kuchinda ADJ Court: The guilty father and son were fined one lakh rupees each
Sambalpur/Bamra/Kuchinda: The verdict of the case of three members of a family being brutally killed in Sambalpur district Bamra Block Jarabaga Panchayat village about 3 years ago was announced on Wednesday. ADJ Rajkishore Lenka of Kuchinda hanged Naveen Dehuri, the main culprit of the murder case, and sentenced his son Hemanand alias Mantu to life imprisonment. Based on the statements of 20 witnesses of Lagada village, the court has ordered a fine of one lakh rupees to both the father and the son. Public prosecutor Rabindra Naik was handling the case.
It is worth noting that on October 21, 2020, at around 2:00 a.m., the Giridhari of Lapada village went to the farm to bring the grain he had cut earlier. After some time, the village people saw Naveen Dehuri (50) and his son Mantu Dehuri (22) walking towards the bill with an axe. There, Naveen and Mantu killed Giridhari with an axe and threw him in the farm. Then they returned to the village. Giridhari’s wife Savitri Sahu (35) and her mother Parvati Behera (55) came to the tubewell in the village to fetch water. At that time, the bloodthirsty Naveen came running with a axe and brutally killed both women. Both died on the spot.
On receiving information about the incident, Sambalpur SP Kanwar Vausit Singh, Kuchinda SDPO Rajkishore Mishra, Mehulpali police station officer Jyotsnarani Behera, Sub-Inspector Dilip Behera reached the house and started the investigation to arrest the accused father and son, Naveen and Mantu, who were hiding in the house. After the incident, there was intense tension in the village of Lapda. A massive police force was deployed in the village. The case was tagged a red flag as the incident was highly sensitive.
