Sambalpur: 32nd Convocation Ceremony of Sambalpur University celebrated
On the occasion of Sambalpur University’s 32nd Convocation, University Vice-Chancellor and Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal joined as the chief guest and expressed their views on Swami Vivekananda’s philosophical ideas. Swami Vivekananda wanted a model of education which would have given a new direction to spirituality, said the Governor. In Swamiji’s opinion, spirituality and intellectual development would enable one to develop his skills through character building, mental strength and sharp intelligence.
In the program held at Biju Patnaik Auditorium on the campus of Sambalpur University, Prof. Mahadev Jaishwal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, was the guest of honor and thanked the graduating students saying that they are graduating in an exciting era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in which Britain became the first center of entrepreneurial revolution in the history of the Industrial Revolution. Europe and America became the centers of the second and third industrial revolutions. Business opportunities in India are increasing now that India has emerged as a destination for foreign investment. Therefore, he inspired the students to work with the Indian ideas of Vasudev Kutumbangam.
IOCL Director H.R Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra as the keynote speaker praised the faculty of the university for the success of the students. He said that the world is moving at a fast pace and in order to progress in the dynamic environment, a strong foundation of new knowledge must be laid. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bidhu Bhushan Mishra in his speech said that higher education has taken a new form of change after globalization in the latter part of India as education is the key to the development of the nation. The entire process of knowledge presentation, knowledge delivery and availability has been transformed to be primarily technology driven. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. The dream has already begun. He said that many more miles are left and Sambalpur University is going to strengthen its process to emerge as the best educational institution in Odisha and the country. In this convocation, the governor awarded 53 students with gold medals, 7 researchers with diplomas, 4 with DSC degrees and 118 with Ph.D. Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Professor Vedang Das Mohanty conferred honorary degrees and DSC titles respectively. In this program, Chancellor Dr. Nrupraj Sahu, PG Council Chairperson Prof. Anita Das along with all the syndicate members, faculty, staff and students of the university were present.
