Sambalpur: 500 Cough Syrup Bottles Seized, 3 Arrested in Dhanupali Police Station Area
Sambalpur: As the Sitalsasthi festival approaches, illegal traders in Sambalpur have become active. From cough syrup to potent illicit substances, the sale of intoxicants in the streets has started. There are concerns that this trade will increase significantly during the Sitalsashti festival. To curb these illegal activities, the Sambalpur district excise department has initiated raids at various locations. Acting on reliable information, the excise department conducted a raid in the Dhanupali police station area on Sunday. Sonu Sahu (25) from Mayabagicha and Mohammed Jahir (22) from Pensionpada were arrested for dealing in cough syrup. The excise department seized 500 bottles of cough syrup from them. Similarly, Mina Nayak (30) was arrested in the Mudipada area while dealing in cough syrup, and 22 bottles were seized from her.

In addition, the Sambalpur district excise department conducted raids at various locations and seized 86 liters of illicit liquor from five locations, arresting five individuals. The excise department has stated that raids will be intensified until the end of the Sitalsashti festival to curb the illegal trade of intoxicants.
