Sambalpur: 8 Krushnasara Mruga (କୃଷ୍ଣସାର ମୃଗ) have come from Nandankanan Zoo to Sambalpur Zoo
Sambalpur: 8 blackbucks (Krushnasara Mruga) have come from Nandankanan Zoo to Sambalpur Zoo. It consists of 4 male and 4 female Krushnasara Mruga. This rare species of Krushnasara Mruga is very rare in India. In Odisha, it is found only in some forests of Ganjam district. In exchange for this Krushnasara Mruga, 7 Four-horned antelope (chousingha) will be sent from Sambalpur Zoo to Nandankan Zoo, DFO of Hirakud Wildlife DFO Anshupragya Das informed.
This wildlife exchange has been made possible with the permission of the State Wildlife Headquarters. The beautiful, smart, and majestic Krushnasara Mrugas has been kept in quarantine for a month after it arrived in Sambalpur. After the one-month quarantine period is over, visitors to the Zoo will be able to see them from next January.
On the other hand, the under-construction orchard and rose garden at Zoo in Sambalpur is about to be completed soon. It has been informed that these two gardens will be opened to the public from New Year.
Now, there are 15 species of wild animals in the zoo, including leopards, sambars, Four-horned antelope, deer, bears, and pythons. 27 enclosures have been made for them. The newly renovated artificial waterfall in Children’s Park is also attractive. It is reported that Sambalpur Zoo is one of the numerous four-horned antelope zoos in the country.
