Sambalpur: A 126-year-old Goshala has been relocated
The process of relocating the 126-year-old Sri Krishna Goshala in the city has started today. The barn will now operate on four acres of land at Potapali under the SMC. Today, about 30 cows have been relocated in the first phase, according to the traditional puja. According to the trust, all 287 cows in the herd will be relocated in phases. According to Nab Kishore Mudra, a trustee of the Sri Krishna Goshala Trust, the cowshed was set up on a single plot of land with some local sympathizers in 1896.
Various people donated cows for the goshala, and the trust bought some cows on its own and began to manage the goshala. Various people also donated money and materials to manage the barn. Now that the Samlei scheme has been implemented, the process of demolishing various houses, government offices and institutions near the temple has begun. In this case, the late Lakshmi Narayan donated 64 acres of land at Potapali to manage the Goshala. The trust has now decided to relocate the current goshala. Now there are all the arrangements for the cows to live. Mr. Mudra informed that house construction is underway for staff accommodation and office.
Now the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation has also taken various steps to protect the cattle that are roaming the streets. The MoU has also been signed with various social organizations for the management of the welfare cows through the provision of land and other grants. The signing of the MoU on the management of Sri Krishna Goshala is under discussion, said Pradeep Kumar Sahu, commissioner of the corporation.
