Sambalpur: A big success to the RBSK program, Sakshi got a new life
A big success of the RBSK program of the state government. Sakshi Rohidas, a 10-month-old child suffering from a complicated heart disease since birth under the National Child Health Program, has regained a new life after a successful surgery. She was discharged from the Rabindranath International Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Kolkata today and is now fully recovered. She will reach home tomorrow.
However, the district health department has expressed happiness over the successful surgery of the Sakshi. According to the information of RBSK manager Gurukumar Bhoi, Jhilima Rohidas of Jharsuguda lives in Kuchinda block. Less than 10 months later, Jhilima gave birth to a baby girl. whose name was given by the Sakshi. But the witness was suffering from complicated heart disease (TAPVC to obstructed supracardia) from the time of birth. The Sakshi was having breathing problems and his body was turning blue. The visiting health team of RBS in Kuchinda came to know about the problem of the Sakshi and admitted him to the district head hospital. At the camp held here, Dr. Raghunath Mohapatra treated him and suggested immediate surgery. Later, the family took him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and Sai Sanjibani Hospital in Raipur, where the doctor returned him. The district health department then referred him to the Rabindranath International Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Kolkata. The Sakshee was admitted to the said hospital on the 28th. Later he underwent open heart surgery. However, after the successful surgery, Sakshi is now fully recovered. Today he is returning home after being discharged from the hospital.
