Sambalpur: A fire broke out in Badabazar of Khetrajpur police station and 3 rooms were burnt. Around 11:00 on Sunday, people saw smoke coming from the asbestos house of Chittaranjan Meher in Badabazar and informed the fire brigade. No one was in the house, no one could enter as it was locked.
On receiving the information, the fire brigade reached the spot. However, as there was no way to reach the house, the fire brigade personnel entered the house through the roof of another person and put down the fire. The gas cylinder inside the house was immediately removed and the danger was averted. The fire brigade estimates that around Rs 40,000 worth of items were burnt. Fire officer Jitendra Biswal said that the preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
