Sambalpur: A Medical Student is a Victim of Cyber Fraud, Fraud in the name of Credit Card
Sambalpur: The month of October is being observed as a cyber awareness month all over the country. Recently, Sambalpur police have launched an awareness program that shows that cyber fraud is not going to stop in Sambalpur. A medical student is a victim of cyber fraud. The cyber fraudster has deducted Rs 48 thousand from his account. According to information, S. Panda, a resident of Burla Vimsar hostel, received a call from an unknown number on Friday.
The caller identified himself as an employee of ICICI Bank. He said he called about the new credit card that the student had ordered from the bank a few days ago the person then sent a link to activate the card after clicking the link the app was downloaded when he entered the card number and expiry date in the app he got an OTP and money start debited in 4 transactions totaling 47,808 rupees was deducted from his credit card after which he deleted the app. After learning that he was a victim of fraud, the student filed a complaint at the Burla police station. The police registered a case and started investigating the incident.
