Sambalpur: A Medical Student studying in Burla Vimsar became a victim of fraud in the name of Credit Card
Sambalpur: The month of October is being observed as a cyber awareness month across the country. This year, the state government has organized cyber awareness programs across the state. Sambalpur Police also organized an awareness program on cyber throughout the district in the month of October. But even after all this, the number of cyber frauds is not slowing down. A medical student studying in Burla Vimsar on Wednesday fell victim to a cyber fraud using her credit card number. Cyber fraud has deducted 90 thousand rupees from the account of a medical student.
According to information, the student received a call from an unknown number around 12:30 on Wednesday. The caller identified himself as an ICICI Bank official. As merchant domestic service is active in the account, Rs 4500 will be added to the next bill of the credit card, it said. Hearing this, the student asked to deactivate the service. The caller sent her an app to deactivate the service. After the student downloaded and installed the app, the man allegedly gave her credit card number and CVV. Then 89 thousand 628 rupees were deducted from her account. After the money was debited, the student contacted the bank and blocked the card. After she filed a written complaint at Burla police station, the police registered a case and started investigating the incident.
