Sambalpur: A Neglected Bypass Road; Sakhipada-Budharaja Route Raises Safety Alarm

Sambalpur: The Sakhipada-Budharaja Bypass Road in Sambalpur provides a bypass for many commuters, but it is not without its challenges. The road is filled with potholes, mud, and rocks, making the journey difficult for travelers. Despite being a vital route for people, both the local administration and the railway department appear to have turned a blind eye to its maintenance.

This bypass route connects Budharaja to the Sakhipada water tank and is heavily trafficked, particularly by students and residents. However, the lack of maintenance has resulted in a deteriorating situation. A section of the road was once laid with concrete, but subsequent construction work has left it uneven and prone to cracks. This inconsistency has made travel difficult and risky for both pedestrians and motor vehicles.

The troubles do not end there. When individuals go under bridges, they encounter water everywhere. Cars and bikes can pass, but walkers become caught in the muddy water. Some individuals attempt to build walkways with bricks, but this is dangerous because passing cars splatter them with mud.

Even after passing the bridges, the road stays bad for about two hundred meters. Big rocks stick out, making it hard for cars to drive safely. People in the area want the government to fix the road and make it safer for everyone.

So, while the Sakhipada-Budharaja Bypass Road might seem like a shortcut, it’s really just a tough journey for anyone traveling through Sambalpur.
