Sambalpur: A unique story of a mother, become Dronacharya for her two children
Sambalpur: “Maa” is a one letter word. But in the form of thought, affection and love, it is as vast as it is, also great. Mother’s sacrifice for the child’s life is not new. After getting older, the effort to fight with a bow and arrow in hand is rare. The mother who has learned archery herself and trained her children bow and arrow. Not only she had learned, also taught her 2 children and build them participate in competitions.
Ruby Dehuri of Jujumura village in Sambalpur district. After her graduation, she married to KishoreKumar Dehuri, a boy from that village. She was doing her work as a housewife. After the birth of her twins (one boy & one girl), they joined the local academy to learn archery. Since there was a coach in the academy, it was not possible to see the child all the time. Hence she herself learned the bow and arrow. She join the Indian and Reserve Bay (Bow) to train the child after training herself. After training the children archery, she has now taken another step forward. Mother, son and daughter have participated in the state level competition. Arnab Kumar Dehuri won the gold medal in the under 9 boys category and Anwesha Dehuri in the girls category in the state level competition held recently at Khaprakhol in Balangir.
Mother did not win any medal in the senior category but finished at the top six. Further, in the month of December, 3 were invited to participate in the national level competition. Rubi Dehuri said, “I myself learned archery to teach the children bow properly. First she took the children to the trainer. After watching them regularly, she became interested in archery. Also I started the game as one of the coaches was not giving much time to the 2 kids. Better education, more emphasis on proper cognitive skills as 2 children can absorb well. Gradually improved my skills and I took part in a competition so that 2 children participated. Next we will bring 3 medal in the competition. I am also working hard for this. Rubi said, “I continue to practice regularly along with training the children.”
