Sambalpur: Allegation of defrauding govt exchequer, Show cause notice to Additional District Education Officer
Sambalpur: Additional District Education Officer of Sambalpur Dr. Muralidhar Behera has been issued a show cause notice by the Director of Primary Education. The Dhankuda Primary Teachers’ Union complained that various irregularities had taken place while he was the Dhankuda Block Education Officer. The Director of Primary Education directed the Regional Director of Education, Sambalpur to investigate and submit a report based on the said complaint. Later, Regional Director Vikas Pradhan conducted an inquiry and submitted a report. The said report pointed out some irregularities and recommended issuing show cause notices to the authorities concerned. Based on the said investigation report, the director of primary education has asked explanation to Dr. Behera.
On behalf of Dhankuda Primary Teachers Association, allegations were made against the then BEO of defrauding the public exchequer. The union alleged that while some of the retired teachers kept government quarters, they paid retirement benefits including pension to the said teachers without getting their clearance and consent letter from the concerned department. After investigating this, the Regional Director mentioned in his report that BEO Dhankuda should have received the clearance certificate of all the quarters before disbursing pension benefits to the concerned employees. Therefore, he recommended that a show cause notice may be issued to him before further action as there is some irregularity in it. He also suggested to vacate the said government quarters and recover all outstanding rent and electricity bills from the concerned pensioners. Based on the said report, the Director of Primary Education has been issued Dr. Behera a show cause notice.
