Sambalpur: An Attempt to Prevent Female Foeticide through a New Sambalpuri Short Film “NANI RA BADLA” (ନାନୀର ବଦଲା)
Strict laws are being issued at the government level regarding female foeticide and killing. Now an innovative attempt is being made in the medium of Sambalpuri Short Film. SRJ Meher’s written, screenplay, and directed “NANI RA BADLA” has been released.
This film is mainly said to be a medium to spread awareness message in the society and sensitize the society to Sambalpuri language literary culture. The director of the movie said that this film is a movement towards how to root out Female Foeticide from society.
Director Saroj Meher directed the film. Actress Suchitra Das, Jyoti Meher, Ranjita Das, Divyani, and others were present on the occasion. They share their own experiences through the short film which is made to raise awareness against female foeticide. The music was composed by Pradeep Kumar. Rangfarua and Swadhin Foundation have cooperated in the project. West Bengal TV along with other partners is carrying out its broadcasting and publicity duties.
It has managed to keep the audience hooked to the curtain with the soulful music of Western Odisha. During the premiere show, its promoters Sapan Mishra, Bhaktaprasad Nanda, Sadananda Panda, Durga Prasad Das, Swadhin Panda, Ranjit Sahu, and many others expressed the hope that the film will be a hit with everyone.
