Sambalpur: Another medical student became a victim of cyber fraud
Burla: Another Doctoral student of Vimsar has become a victim of cyber fraud. Fraud debited 47 thousand 808 rupees from the bank account on the pretext of a credit card. According to the information, Sagar Saurabh Panda (25), a medical student of Vimsar received a phone call from an unknown number 7980344543. The cyber fraudster who called posing himself as a representative of ICICI Bank, told the student that he had applied for a new credit card, the new card was registered and the cyber fraudster sent him a link to activate it.
The said application was automatically installed under the name of ICICI Bank. Then, as soon as the medical student submits the card number and expiry date in the application, repeatedly OTP starts to appear and from the account, itself deducted 13809, 11525, 9999, and 12475 rupees, total amounting to 47 thousand 808 rupees debited in four stages. It has been informed by police sources that the student has filed a complaint of fraud in Burla police station.
