Sambalpur: Another Success achieved by the Sambalpur Excise Department, Marijauna worth Rs. 4 lakh seized from the Ispat train
Chitrakonda/Sambalpur: More than 3 crores worth of Marijauna was seized near Dike-3 in Malkangari and 4 lakhs worth of Marijauna was seized from the Sambalpur train.
According to information received, 40kg ganja were seized from the Ispat train and 3 people were arrested. Sambalpur District Excise Department and RPF raided the Sambalpur railway station together and seized 40 kg of Marijauna from the train. The three accused were Bhim Kumar (23) from Bhojpur district of Bihar, Mithlesh Kumar (21) from Rohtas district and Sarbjit Kumar (19) from Uttar Pradesh.
According to the information received from the Excise department, the miscreants were taking ganja from the Balangir market and smuggling it to West Bengal. After receiving information from a source, a team of Excise Department along with Sambalpur RPF raided the train when it reached Khetrajpur station.
Similarly, the Chitrakonda police received information from a source last night that a large amount of marijuana was stored in the forest near Dike-3. Later, a team under the leadership of police station officer Mukund Melka rode into the forest. However, on seeing the police, the ganja smuggler in the forest took advantage of the darkness and fled away. Later, the police searched the forest and found the bag containing a large quantity of marijuana. The police seized the marijuana and brought it to the police station. Police officer said that the seized ganja is 330 kilos and its estimated value is 333 million rupees.
