Sambalpur: Another woman in the net of cyber fraud trap in the name of electricity bill

Sambalpur: There is no sign of stopping the violence of cyber criminals in Sambalpur district. They are spreading nets to trap people in different ways. They are also succeeding. On the other hand, the failure of the police to nab the accused acts as an incentive to the cyber fraudsters. Another woman from Ainthapali area of Sambalpur has become a victim of cyber fraud. Cyber fraud has deducted 1 lakh 58 thousand rupees from his account.
According to police information, a message came to the woman on Sunday. It was written in the said message that if the remaining electricity bill is not paid, the electricity connection will be cut off at 10 o’clock tonight. The woman was worried that the power connection would be cut and contacted the number given in the message. After making the contact, the cyber crook identified himself as an employee of Tata Power and asked the woman to download the Team View click support app. Thinking that the problem would be resolved by paying the money, the woman downloaded the app and after installing it, shared her Team viewer number with the fraudster. Then the cyber fraudster continued to deduct money from her account by making one transaction after another. The fraudster had deducted a total of 1 lakh 58 thousand rupees from her account. After finding out that she was a victim of fraud, she lodged a written complaint at the Ainthapali police station on Monday. The police have registered a case and started investigating the incident. It is worth noting that in the month of August, 2 women from Sambalpur city were victims of fraud in the same way.
