Sambalpur: Arrest Made in Khetrarajpur Murder Case: Suspect Accused of Theft
Sambalpur: The murder of Rinku Nanda (30) at Durgapali Kusumpada took a chilling turn on Saturday at 10 am. The accused, identified as Akul Banchor (44) from Durgapali Kusumupada, was arrested by the local police and presented in court on Monday.
Sadar SDPO Tofan Bagh shared that the motive behind the murder was rooted in a recent theft at Akul’s house. Akul suspected Rinku and Rinku’s nephew of the theft, leading to a confrontation on Saturday. Akul called Rinku’s nephew to inquire about the alleged theft, triggering a visit from Rinku himself. In a fit of rage, Akul attacked Rinku from behind with a baton, resulting in his death. The accused was promptly apprehended and brought before the court on Monday.
The event occurred about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Rinku was leaving his residence to get his mother. He went to Akul’s home with his nephew to investigate the theft. The confrontation turned fatal as Akul brutally assaulted Rinku with a baton.
In a bid to evade the police after committing the murder, Akul sought assistance from an accomplice. An accomplice living near the Sambalpur town police station sent Akul to one of his relatives in Jharkhand. However, Khetrajpur police successfully tracked down Akul, leading to his arrest.
