Sambalpur: Arrested Lawyers beaten by police incident, Complaint to Human Rights Commission
Sambalpur: ‘Police have shown inhumane behavior with arrested lawyers. 11 of the arrested lawyers have been beaten severely. After meeting the lawyers in Sambalpur jail, a representative group of lawyers from different parts of the state brought such a serious charge a few days ago and now they have complained to the Human Rights Commission.
About 30 lawyers have been arrested in the last 12th dec of agitation and vandalism in the court. However, some lawyers who were not intentionally involved in the incident have also been arrested by the police. Arrested lawyers were brutally beaten. The complaint has been filed with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of inhumane treatment of lawyers by police. Lawyer RangeNath Sarangi filed such a complaint and Mr. Sarangi appealed to the Human Rights Commission to investigate the incident by a special team and take action against those responsible. On the other hand, on the 27th, a representative of the BJP is coming to Sambalpur to study the situation. Arrested lawyers, representatives of lawyers’ associations, workers of various civil organizations, local court judges and district and police administration will hold talks. The high-level delegation includes MPs Suresh Pujari, Jewel Oram, Basant Panda, Sangita Kumari Singhdeo and Nitesh Gangdev along with Leader of the Opposition in the state Jay Narayan Mishra, Nauri Naik, Bhavanishankar Bhoi, Subas Panigarahi, Mukesh Mahalinga, Shankar Oram, Kusum Tete And 7 MLAs are involved.
The delegation will also meet the lawyers who have been arrested and jailed. In such a situation, it is unfortunate that the Chief Minister is still silent, said a press release from BJP. On the contrary, since this incident, no member of the Sambalpur Bar Association has yet joined the court proceedings. There is chaos in the court. Meanwhile, lawyers from different districts are visiting Sambalpur every day to boost the morale of Sambalpur Bar Association. In such a situation, the state government has maintained a surprising silence.
