Sambalpur: Arrival of exotic birds at Hirakud Reservoir

The arrival of exotic birds has increased in the Hirakud Reservoir. Like every year, this year also bird counting will be done in the reservoir in the next 8 days. This work will continue from 5 am to 5 pm. 8 sectors have been made for bird counting in the area adjacent to the Hirakud reservoir. A total of 13 boats will be used for bird counting. There will be 5 silent boats while the other boats will be used. Last year, about 120,000 foreign birds of 108 species arrived in this area adjacent to Hirakud Reservoir. Lesser Huisiling duck from Mongolia was more. It contained 10 newly introduced species.

Forester Lalita Abha, Forest Guard Mans Patel, Forester Harendra Sahu, Forest Guard Saudagar Kisan, Forester Budharam Rohidas and Guard Yudhisthir Baru for Sector No. 12, Forester Sarjoy Bho and Guard for Sector No. 12 for Bird Counting. Bhagirathi Pradhan, forester Sunil Bhoi and guard Suresh Tarai for number 13, forester Dolamani Naik and guard Surendra Khamari for number 14, forester Rakshit Pradhan and guard Upendra Beshan for number 15, forester Gaurang Sahu and guard Shantanu Pradhan for number 16. Five more experts including Shubham Raut, Ashish Shukla, and Gaurang Pati have been appointed as experts for bird counting. That is why fishermen are prohibited from going to Hirakud Reservoir from the 7th morning to the 8th afternoon. It is expected that a large number of exotic birds will come to the reservoir due to the winter wave this year.
