Sambalpur: Artisans and craftsmen will get benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana
Burla: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana from New Delhi. Mr. John Barla, Minister of Minority Affairs of the Union Government, attended the program organized at Biju Patnaik Auditorium of Sambalpur University. He said that the Prime Minister’s Global Action Plan has been launched mainly for the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of traditional handicrafts.
The scheme provides financial assistance for skill enhancement and promotion of traditional artisans and craftsmen. He opined that the schemes being launched by the Prime Minister can be successfully implemented by both the state government and the central government. Craftsmen engaged in 18 types of handicrafts such as goldsmiths, potters, jewelers, gardeners, tailors, blacksmiths, cobblers, shoemakers, shell and stone makers, boat makers, hammer and tool makers, fishing net makers, basket makers, broom makers can benefit from this scheme.
The guest of honor, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari emphasized on the marketing of products made by artisans and craftsmen without limiting the Vishwakarma Yojana to the scheme. He said that the products made by them can be sold and the artisans can benefit. Rengali MLA Nouri Naik joined as a distinguished guest and informed about the public welfare schemes of the Prime Minister. East Coast Railway DRM Vineet Singh and ADRM Anand Singh also joined the artisans, government officials, and local people on this occasion.
