The Sambalpur Transport Department has been seen to be taking strict action against those violating the rules. In the month of March, 2408 people have been fined for traveling without a helmet in Sambalpur. 494 people have been fined for speeding while 441 people have been fined for using mobile phones while driving, Sambalpur RTO Ramdas Tudu said. Similarly, 308 people were fined for traveling with 3 people on a bike and 58 people were fined for not wearing seat belts, while 81 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
288 people have their licenses suspended
A total of 268 people’s DL has been suspended in the month of March. Among them, 169 bikers have DL. On the other hand, checks for High Security Number Plates (HSRP) have also been tightened. In the month of March, a total of 288 vehicles have been fined 5 thousand rupees each for HSRP, of which 204 bikes, 25 three-wheelers, 19 cars, 10 trucks and 30 other vehicles have been impounded, Ramdas Tudu said that this special drive will continue.
