Sambalpur: Shocking Incident in Sunapali Area of Dhanupali Police Station; Locals Beat Thief to Death

Sambalpur: An unexpected and tragic incident occurred in Rajanagar, Sunapali, under Dhanupali police limits in Sambalpur district. Locals allegedly caught and beat a man to death, suspecting him of theft.

Who Was the Victim?

The deceased has been identified as Alam Giri Bengali (25 years old), a native of West Bengal. He had been living in Motijharan and working at a hotel in the area.

What Happened?

According to sources, late Wednesday night, Alam Giri allegedly attempted to break into two houses in the Rajanagar area along with another person named MD Said. However, he was caught by local residents during the act.

Soon after, a group of people surrounded and beat him severely. During the assault, Alam reportedly admitted to attempting the theft. As a result of the beating, his condition worsened quickly.

Medical Response and Death

Police later took him to Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Initial police investigations revealed no visible injury marks on the body. They have stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received.
