Sambalpur: BJP Surrounds the District Collector Office, Protest against the Metropolitan Corporation
Sambalpur: Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation turned into Corruption, Fraud, and Nepotism, Elections have not been held for 10 years. The BJP has alleged that it is being managed and controlled by administrative officials. In protest, a large number of party leaders and workers gathered in front of the District Collector’s office today.
Today in two processions from Balibandha and Lakshmi Talkies streets of the city, the general public including BJP leaders reached the District Collector’s office, where in an unscheduled protest meeting under the chairmanship of District President Girish Patel, Rengali MLA Nauri Naik, State General Secretary Simanchal Khatei, State Secretary Tankadhar Tripathi, State Working Member Ramchandra Meher, senior leaders Damodar Kar, district farmer morcha president Sameer Ranjan Babu, women morcha president Annapurna Barik, youth morcha president Ashwini Majhi, mandal president Saroj Ghadei, Jayant Das, Nilambar Sikandar present and protest against the state government.
He said, there is corruption and fraud by not providing houses to the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, who are deprived of the minimum facilities in the metropolitan areas. People do not have a plot of land and bribes are being demanded for widow allowance. The trade license fee has been increased by more than four times for traders who are not involved in tenders for hoarding or cleaning work in the city. 10 demand letters were issued to the governor, alleging that illegal tax is being levied in various ways like holding tax, water tax. Among the demands are to stop rampant corruption, fraud and nepotism in the metropolitan area, to intensify sanitation in the metropolitan area, to identify the real beneficiaries and provide them with permanent housing under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, to repair all the roads and drains, to set up lights, to provide toilets in crowded areas, supply of clean drinking water, curbing the exorbitant increase in trade license fees imposed on traders.
