Sambalpur: Bodies of two missing MCL officers have been recovered from Hirakud Dam
Fire brigade and ODRAF team get failed, fisherman recovered the second body
Burla: The bodies of two MCL officers who drowned near the Jhankarani temple in Hirakud reservoir were recovered today. While the Odraf team recovered one body, local fishermen recovered the other body. According to the information received from the police sources, the body of Abhishek Kumar was recovered by the Odraf team at around 7 o’clock this morning. His body was recovered while floating in the water. On the other hand, Mahesh Chittori could not be found even after extensive search by the fire brigade and ODRAF team. Sahadeva Naik, Sankirtan Pradhan, Trilochan Behera, Harishchandra Naik of the local village Burla area, major fishermen, while fishing in the reservoir, rescued a dead body in a floating state and brought it to the shore. At around 12 o’clock Mahesh’s body was recovered by local fishermen and handed over to the police. The police seized the bodies of both and sent them for autopsy. Police sources have informed that both the bodies were handed over to the family members after the autopsy. Two teams of Burla fire brigade, Sambalpur fire brigade and 18-member team of Odraf were engaged in this rescue operation.
As for information, yesterday in a car, four officers working in MCL went to Horakud reservoir. In the evening, they entered the water to take a bath. Out of which Saurabh escapes from little. The local boating club’s security guards were able to save Abinesh Ray. Mahesh and Abhishek drowned in the water. Fire brigade and police were immediately informed. On receiving the information, the fire brigade reached the spot and started searching. However, as it got dark, even after many searches, the two could not be found. At around 10 o’clock in the night, the 18-member team of Odraf reached the scene. The police and Odraf team pitched a tent at a small spot and stayed overnight, and the search began again in the morning.
