Sambalpur: Budharaja Watch Tower locked: Watch Tower built on Budharaja hill top for tourists at a cost of Rs 1 crore

Sambalpur: Tourism will be developed. Number of Tourists will be high . From the top of the watch tower, people will enjoy the beautiful view of the city. For this, the construction of the watch tower on Budharaja Hilltop was started at a cost of 1 crore rupees. But this hope could not be fulfilled so far. The watch tower at Budharaja has reached the final stage of construction but is yet to be opened. A big lock hangs on the gate about which there is intense dissatisfaction. Even after 6 years of the work, the question is raised as to why the project has not been handed over to the tourism department.

In 2016, an amount of Rs. 1 crore was approved by the state tourism department for the beautification of Budharaja hills. The construction period of which was only 18 months. Even after more than 6 years, the work could not be completed. Last year, the department had planned for the handover by the end of October. Another year has passed in this. But the work never completed. The Department of Agriculture has said that there is still a little work left to be done. We will hand it over next month. On the other hand, the tourism department has targeted the construction department for its poor performance. The departmental officer said, “When we ask, they say it will take another month.” But never work. It will not be done this time either. If the watch tower is handed over soon, we will keep it open for tourists. Budharaja people has blamed the local administration for the incident of the watch tower being locked. Not being able to complete a work even after such a long time is said to be the inefficiency of the department. Hundreds of college students and tourists come here daily. Taking a selfie and seeing the city from the top of the watch tower is very interesting. But the administration is not paying attention to it. Tourists are returned back and also there is loss of revenue, people said.
