Sambalpur: Burla City forced eviction issue, Eviction will be done according to scale measurement: District Collector

Burla: The district administration has broken the silence on the issue of reconstruction of the main road connecting Gopbandhu Street from Petrol Pump Street to Indira Street in Burla City. Today, a team of the administration, including District Magistrate Ananya Das, visited the area identified for eviction in Burla town. The district collector advised people to be prepared for this while saying that eviction will be done up to the mark and measured area. While walking from Indira Street to the NAC office, some people requested to reduce the scale for eviction. But District Magistrate did not accept it and advised those people to take steps to vacate the building.

  • City Road will be broad
  • Pressure from Protesters not work

There is a rumor that the District Collector will adopt a zero-tolerance policy. A senior official of SMC informed that the eviction will be done soon after the district review. Additional District Collector, Upazilapal, SMC Commissioner, Tahasildar, ARI, and other officials were present during the visit of the District Collector.

2.5 crores has been approved for the expansion of the road connecting Gopbandhu Street through Indira Street to Petrol Pump Street in Burla town and maintenance work has also been assigned in the tender. But since last February, the construction work on this road has been stopped. The work was completed last month and there were rules as per the tender. But the work is stopped due to the imposition of confiscation barriers. The local RI and SMC team carried out measurements in the presence of the Metropolitan Corporation officials on the instructions of the district administration for eviction.

It was said that the road will be widened by 11 meters on both sides from the middle of the road to a total of 22 meters and for this, all the buildings coming in this area will be demolished. Many small traders started closing their shops after that scale. But big businessmen or those who have the possibility of demolishing big buildings were said to be putting pressure on the district administration from various angles to keep the eviction process going slow down.

After the visit of the District Collector herself today, it has become clear that the eviction will take place. Such an initiative of the district administration has been appreciated by the conscious citizens of the city.
