Sambalpur: Chaurpur Bridge Footpath Seized by Contractor’s Pipe
Sambalpur: The footpath on Chaurpur Bridge, crucial for connecting Sambalpur city and Chaurpur, has been forcefully occupied by a cable-laying company. The bridge facilitates easier transit between the two areas, with people regularly using it in the mornings and evenings. Unfortunately, the footpaths have been taken over by the company pipes, posing serious safety risks.
The ongoing project involves connecting high-voltage power lines between Chaurpur and Sambalpur, necessitating the use of the bridge. To facilitate this, the company has laid a home pipe along one side of the footpath on the bridge. However, this has resulted in the complete blockage of footpaths in some areas, forcing pedestrians to use the main road. This has produced blockages on the bridge, increasing the danger of accidents.
Recent incidents have claimed four lives due to accidents on the bridge, prompting concerns from the local community. A senior officer from SMC (Sambalpur Municipal Corporation) assured that the pipes obstructing the footpaths would be removed soon, and necessary action would be taken against the involved organization. The move aims to restore the safety of pedestrians and prevent further accidents on the Chaurpur Bridge.
