Sambalpur: City Temperature Recorded Above 41°C; Jalachhatras to Operate Soon
Sambalpur: Sambalpur is experiencing extreme heat. On Friday, temperatures in the city reached a sweltering 41.3°C (106°F). The temperature in nearby Diamond City was also 41°C (106°F).
The intense heat has brought life to a halt. Hot breezes are making it difficult for individuals to leave their houses during the day. To provide some comfort, schools have been directed to end morning courses at 10:30 a.m. beginning Friday.
Despite temperatures above 41°C in Sambalpur, the city’s much-needed ‘Jalachhatras’ have yet to be installed. People are upset about the delay.
Originally, the aim was to set up these Jalachhatras on May 15th. However, with the heat growing oppressive, instructions have been issued to begin installing them on May 10th.
The Jalachhatras will appear at the same locations as last year. There have been no new locations added this time.
Many drinking water projects in Sambalpur are currently non-functional, resulting in water scarcity woes for residents. People have asked that all of these ‘Amrutdhara’ projects be repaired immediately to ensure adequate water supply throughout the harsh summer.
