Sambalpur: Conclusion of Sitalsasthi; Deity Couple Enter the Temple, Shiva’s Statue Installed at Balibandha by SMC
Sambalpur: The spiritual and cultural grand festival, Sitalsasthi Jatra, concluded on Wednesday evening with the entry of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati into the temple. Over a hundred thousand devotees gathered in Sambalpur for the auspicious sight of the divine couple. Despite the intense heat, people enjoyed cultural programs along with the divine darshan of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
On Monday night, the grand procession of Lord Shiva took place, followed by a traditional marriage ceremony with Goddess Parvati early in the morning. On Tuesday evening, after the bride’s farewell and a grand aarti at midnight, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati embarked on a city tour for the devotees. Devotees felt blessed after witnessing the divine couple.

A Nice Step by SMC for Sitalsasthi
The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) has taken significant steps to enhance the city’s ambiance. A statue of Lord Shiva in a dance pose has been installed at Balibandha Chowk. This initiative by the SMC has been welcomed by various quarters. There is also a demand for similar initiatives at other prominent junctions in Sambalpur.
According to the SMC Commissioner, Vedbhushan, the decision to install the statue was taken months ago, keeping in mind the Sitalsasthi festival. The project, which cost around 15 lakhs rupees, involved installing a statue made of SRP metal. Plans are also in place to illuminate the statue with colorful lights in the future.
Lakhmitalkies Chowk, NelsonMandela Chowk, Jail Chowk, GM Chowk, Ainthapali Chowk, and Durgapali Chowk are demanding to take up the work of beautification with other major chowks and to maintain various parks and install idols of various deva devis (deities) and Mahapurush in Budhijibhi Mahal in Sambalpur city.
