Sambalpur: Congestion on Ainthapali-Remed Service Road; Accidents on the Rise Due to Poor Planning

Sambalpur: Poor management has turned the Ainthapali-Remed Chowk service road in Sambalpur into a hotspot for accidents and traffic jams. Hundreds of garages line both sides of the service road, causing vehicles to park illegally and obstruct traffic flow.

Accidents and Traffic Jams Frequent

The service road connects National Highway 53 with various parts of the city, including Ainthapali, Remed Chowk, and Burla Chowk. Thousands of vehicles pass through this stretch every day, causing frequent accidents and traffic congestion. The road was originally built for commuters’ convenience, but it is now often congested.

Illegal Parking Worsens the Situation

Both sides of the service road are jam-packed with illegally parked vehicles. Trucks and other heavy vehicles frequently park in front of garages for extended periods of time, leaving little space for other vehicles to pass. This causes traffic jams, particularly during peak hours, which cause significant inconvenience to daily commuters.

Garages Lacking Parking Facilities

The majority of the garages along this road lack dedicated parking spaces. As a result, repair work is done directly on the road, obstructing vehicle traffic. The situation worsens in the evening as traffic from Panchgachia Chowk adds to the already congested service road.

Ambulances Stuck in Traffic

Traffic congestion has reached the point where ambulances are becoming stuck, making the situation critical. Despite growing concerns, the administration has yet to take concrete action to address the situation. The district police and transport departments are still inactive, with no long-term solutions in sight.

Citizens Demand Action

Locals have expressed frustration, claiming that the authorities are only conducting helmet checks while ignoring pressing issues such as illegal parking and traffic congestion. Residents are calling for immediate action to clear the roads and prevent future accidents.

The public has demanded that the police and transportation departments collaborate to find a permanent solution that ensures safer and smoother traffic flow on the Ainthapali-Remed Chowk service road.
