Sambalpur: Construction of Auditorium near Jhasketan Municipal Swimming Pool was not started, only iron pillars were buried

Sambalpur: Sambalpur is the cultural soul of Western Odisha. Sambalpur has played an important role in the preservation and promotion of Sambalpuri folk art and folk culture. The cultural organizations of Sambalpur have won many awards in national level drama competitions. Sambalpur is the leader in performing Sambalpuri folk dances across the country. It is ironic that a state-of-the-art auditorium theater for performing arts has not been built in Sambalpur till date. For this reason, efforts have not been made or many initiatives have been taken to realize the constant demand and need of Sambalpur culture Auditorium. Construction of an auditorium funded by the Western Odisha Development Council near Jhasketan Municipal Swimming Pool has also been started. However, it did not work. From the very beginning of its construction, people were skeptical about it.

The question raised of how to build an auditorium in a narrow space, but was assured that there would be no problem with space-packing systems. The construction company dug up a large amount of soil from here to build parking and shifted it to another place. Later, preparations were started for the construction. The work was stopped for some reason after the iron rod was buried. Later on, the chairmanship of the Development Council was also changed and his views changed after the new chairman took charge. Many years have passed since the span was deemed inadequate for an auditorium, and the site has now become a punk arena. It is located dangerously close to the highway and the alternative arrangement for the auditorium means that the site has not been selected. Abandoned and in a dangerous condition in the middle of the population, no steps are being taken to build something different. It is said that about 40 lakh rupees have already been spent on this construction. There was no effort at the administrative level to make good use of the money and resources spent. As a result, public money has been lost and the place has become unsightly and unsafe. While it is widely discussed that a commercial park for small and medium traders will be constructed there by using the existing construction, many people will be able to get employment and the beauty of the place will also be enhanced.
