Sambalpur: Construction of Vimsar Super Specialty Building Amidst Uncertainty; Time is ticking, Expenses is also Increasing
BURLA: The completion date of Vimsar Super Specialty Building is moving forward and as the time is ticking, the cost is also increasing. The construction company is working in a careless manner while the RDC has given repeated promises for the speedy completion of the construction work.
According to the information received, the construction of Vimsar Super Specialty Building was started by Highgriva Company from last year 2017. Even though more than 5 years have passed, its construction work has not been completed. At the time of construction, it was targeted to be finished by the end of 2019, but this period has been extended several times. However, as the target was not achieved by the end of March 2022, time was given to complete it by the end of Oct. However, even during this period, company failed to complete the work. And this period was extended to 30 April 2023.
The building is expected to be completed by the end of this month as the construction work is progressing at a slow pace. In the meantime, the RDC, District Collector and other administrative officials have warned the authorities many times.
It is worth noting that out of a total of 150 crore rupees, 80 crore rupees were planned to be spent on construction and the remaining 70 crore rupees on medical equipment. The government plans that Bhubaneswar AIMS will serve as the nodal center for this super-specialty complex, but the construction of this building is not being completed on schedule. As time goes by, the expenses of the organization are also increasing.
The government has allocated an additional 300 million rupees for the expenses of the organization. Super specialty departments such as gastroenterology, endocrinology, clinical hematology, pediatric surgery are planned to be opened here. Previously, there were super specialty departments of nephrology, urology, neurology, neurosurgery and cardiology, recently the department of plastic surgery has been made operational and an assistant professor Mahesh Mandal has been appointed. 60 ICU units and 180 general beds are being planned in the super specialty building. However, it is said that the super specialty hospital will be operational immediately after the construction of the building is completed.
