Sambalpur: Court contempt case against Chancellor: Command to make it clear in the truth text
Sambalpur: Sambalpur University Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Mittal is in yet another shock in the case of the local Lala Lajpat Rai Law College. The High Court held that the information provided by the Chancellor of the University on the issue of appointment of faculty, staff, etc. to avoid contempt of court cases was not clear. The Odisha High Court, in its judgment, has stated that it should be made clear through the truth text. The University of Alumni Association (Alumni Association) has repeatedly raised the issue of the law college, which is run by Sambalpur University. Teaching was shown to be hampered by the non-appointment of vacant teachers and non-teachers. Despite repeated demands, the alumni union was forced to close the High Court in 2021 through its editor Durga Padhi.
The High Court directed the Chancellor to make it clear what steps have been taken in the wake of this public interest litigation. However, during the hearing on the 25th, the Chancellor issued an advertisement for the appointment of three professors (Ad No. 4/2020-21). Similarly, the High Court has been notified of the advertisement for the post of 25 non-teaching staff (Junior Assistant and Junior Stenographer) through the Staff Selection Board of the Department of Higher Education (Ad No. 07/18.09.2010). However, the ruling did not specify whether the advertisement for the High Court professor’s appointment was for the law department of the university or for the Lajpat Rai Law College. Therefore, he has decided to make all these issues clear through the text. The next hearing in the case is set to begin on the 16th. Attorney Vijay Jena is handling the case on behalf of the petitioners.
