Sambalpur: Cyber fraudsters are gradually spreading their nets to rob people by taking the names of high-ranking officials. In the name of Sambalpur Vigilance SP IPS Sara Sharma, cyber fraudsters have spread a net to frame people. Sambalpur Vigilance SP Sara Sharma has informed about this on her Facebook account. On Sunday, she posted on Facebook and wrote, ‘Someone is messaging my friends from an unknown WhatsApp number in which they are asking me to buy amazon gift cards and asking for money. So don’t send me money, because I don’t need it.
Beware of such scammers’ call messages. She posted this on Sunday after the incident of cyber fraudster asking for money by messaging some of her friends on WhatsApp came to light. However, this is not an isolated incident in Sambalpur, cyber fraudsters are trying to trap people by opening Facebook accounts in the names of multiple officials of the state and using their photos on different WhatsApp numbers. Some are also successful. A few days ago, there was an allegation of cyber fraud asking for money in the name of the head of Okaka. Fraudsters are sending messages that sometimes someone is sick and sometimes they need money for an operation. Cyber experts have advised to be careful with such messages.
