Sambalpur: Dadagiri of outside students at Gangadhar Meher University (GMU)
Sambalpur: Several outside students assaulted students of GMU inside the GMU campus and attack some outside the gate. Many students were injured in the attack, while 3 were reported to be seriously injured. A written complaint has been filed in the town police station.
According to the information received, the Sambalpuri Day celebration started at 10.30 am in GMU. Meanwhile, at this time a student was verbally abused, and another student named Gourav Satpathi stopped him. The other student got angry, went out, and called some non-students. 4 to 5 non-students abused Gourav and slapped him 2 times in front of the faculty. After this, Gourav and some other students complained to the Chancellor about this. After making a complaint, 10 other people including Gourav went out together. At that time, around 30 non-students outside the gate attacked them in a group with various weapons. Pritish Kar was stabbed in the cheek and received 4 stitches. Pelted stones on Shwetanshu Barei and injured his head. Both were admitted to Burla Hospital.
Subham Prasad Mishra was also injured in the stone pelting and was admitted to the district hospital. On the other hand, an official from the gm university said, “We did not know what was happening while the program was going on.” It was discovered after the complaint was made. The children have complained in writing to the Chief Secretary. Action will be taken after the Investigation. But we do not know what happened outside the university, he said. On the other hand, the town police station has detained 5 people and is interrogating them.
