Sambalpur: Daring Robbery Failed; Tanishq Jeweller Targeted, Miscreant Nabbed by Locals
Sambalpur: In Sambalpur, a daring robbery attempt took place in the Budharaja area, with a miscreant targeting Tanishq Jeweller under the Ainthapali police station. The criminal entered the jewelry store at 7 p.m. yesterday evening, pretending to want to buy a necklace. As the salesperson led him upstairs to view the necklace, the miscreant seized the opportunity to pick several pieces of gold jewelry.
Upon reaching the ground floor for billing, the miscreant, posing as a customer, absconded with the gold near the counter. As the security guard tried to grab the robber, he briefly escaped by attacking the guard. However, alert locals intervened after hearing guards shouting, capturing, and detaining him until the police arrived.
The police promptly arrested the offender and initiated an investigation to find any collaborators in that incident.
In a separate incident on the 16th afternoon, six individuals attempted a gold heist in a Govindtola gold shop, at Dhanupali police station. Failing in their attempt, the looters shot the shop owner. Notably, another jewelry shop named Mandhata Baba Jewelry Shop of Maneswar had been robbed at gunpoint six months ago, and the culprits are still unidentified.
In yesterday’s incident, one person has been detained, but he communicates in Hindi, prompting suspicions that he may be from outside the state. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
