Sambalpur: Decision taken in the DLPC meeting, Rabi paddy purchase will start from next May 15th
Sambalpur: In Sambalpur district, Rabi paddy purchase will start from May 15. This decision was taken in the DLPC meeting held on Tuesday. This year’s Rabi grain procurement will involve 30 pax, 10 women self-help groups, 62 PPCs and 46 millers.
In 2021-22, the minimum support price of paddy was Rs.1940 per quintal for common paddy and Rs.1960 for grade-A paddy. The minimum support price for 2022-23 is Rs.2040 per quintal for common paddy and Rs.2060 per quintal for grade-A paddy. 14759 farmers have registered for Rabi season 2021-22 and 15444 farmers have registered for Rabi season 2022-23.
It was decided in the meeting that the paddy will be collected between 6 am and 10 am due to summer heat. In view of summer, the mandi will have sheds and drinking water. It was also proposed to increase the duration after token generation. It was said that if there is any problem in the purchase of paddy from the registered farmers, the district administration will take immediate steps to solve it.
District Collector Ananya Das presided over the meeting held at the District Collector’s conference room. District Council Chairperson Kumdini Naik, Rengali MLA Nauri Naik, Kuchinda MLA Kishore Naik, Additional District Collector Umakant Raj, Kuchinda Sub Collector Bibhu Bhushan Naik, Chandrasekhar Panda, Redhakhol MLA Representative Gopiranjan Behera, District Council Additional Development Officer Ramesh Hansda, District Chief Supply Officer Ramachandra Tudu, including Farmers, Millers representatives and officials were present.
