Sambalpur: Demand Letter of Shopkeepers Union, Displacement should prepared before the Eviction
Sambalpur: Sambalpur city has thousands of street vendors. The family is supported by what is earned from that shop. These street vendors are being evicted by the administration without displaced them. While around 400 street vendors have been evicted in Ainthapali area, very few have been evicted in PhD area which is not enough for the settlement of the shopkeeper.
On Wednesday, a delegation led by Satish Bishi, president of the Shopkeepers’ Association, met the commissioner of the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) and submitted the demand letter.
The union has demanded that the street vendors in Church Street, Jail Street, Dhanupali and other shelters under the metropolis should be cleared before evicting them.
The union has also demanded a reduction in the tax levied by SMC for the street vendors. Along with Satish, Nishant Bohidar, Ravi Pradhan, Amitabh Parida, Jal Nayak, Mohammed Haleem, Satya, Kabi Patra were present and presented the demand papers.
