Sambalpur: Dhankauda Street has become a hotbed of accidents: There is no traffic system, no street lights

Sambalpur: One person died in a truck collision near Dhankauda Street of National Highway No. 53, Sambalpur Sadar Police Station. Pintu Kalet (35 years old), a young man from Bazar Sari, was returning to his elder sister’s house when he was hit by a truck. He died on the spot. The villagers blocked the highway with dead body. When the patrolling vehicle of Dhanupali police station reached the spot, the rioters destroyed the vehicle. 2 women policemen were injured when the glass of the vehicle broke. There was intense tension at the scene. Sadar SDPO Pradeep Sahu arrived and explained to the aggrieved people.

At 11:30 pm, the police recovered the body and sent Burla in an ambulance. It is to be noted that Pintu Kalet of Badabazar was staying at her elder sister Raibari Kumbhar’s house near City Station for a few days. He went to Dhankauda to market on Friday afternoon. Pintu was returning to sister’s house around 9 pm. While crossing the highway in the dark, he was run over by a speeding truck. He died on the spot. The mourning atmosphere was created by the tears of his wife and family members. On the other hand, people blocked the road for a long time demanding compensation.

As a result, the traffic was completely stopped. There was a long line of lanes on both sides of the road. After the police reached the people and sent the body with a promise of compensation, the dead body was removed from the road around 11:45 pm. On the 9th, a person lost his life in a collision with an unknown vehicle at the same place. People blocked the road for more than 2 hours. There are no streetlights on the newly constructed road and there are no humps on the intersection. So people have complained that there are frequent accidents. Deceased Pintu has 2 sons and a daughter. After his death, the family is completely helpless.
