Sambalpur: DHH Faces Criticism; 6.54 Crore Spent, Water Leakage Raises Concerns
Sambalpur: Sambalpur District Headquarter Hospital (DHH), which had recently been turned into an Aama Hospital, faced an unexpected setback only a week later. A brief and intense half-hour storm hit the city, resulting in water leakage from the newly constructed hospital building. The incident has raised questions about the quality of development work, particularly given the significant cost of 6.54 crore rupees.
During the evening rain, water gathered on the hospital floor due to a roof leak near the hospital’s entrance. The front wall of the hospital also became wet, creating inconvenience to those present at the time. This incident has sparked questions about the effectiveness of the 6.54 crore rupees spent on the hospital’s development within such a short span.
It’s essential to highlight that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 73 ‘Aama Hospital’ and 5 sub-district level dialysis centers across 15 districts on the 17th. As part of this initiative, 4 hospitals in Sambalpur district, including DHH, were included. The district health department revealed that 17.11 crore rupees were allocated for various healthcare facilities under this scheme, such as 6.54 crore rupees for DHH, 2.66 crore rupees for Themra CHC, 2.74 crore rupees for Kuchinda SDM, and 5.16 lakh crore rupees for Redhakhol SDH.
Critics argue that such issues arising within a week of the hospital’s conversion raise doubts about the quality of the construction work. The public is questioning the government’s expenditure of crores of rupees, intended to provide proper treatment to patients. This incident has prompted concerns about the durability and effectiveness of the development work carried out in the rush to inauguration.
