Sambalpur: District Level Road Safety Committee Meeting; 13,215 people fined for not wearing helmets
Sambalpur: 415 people have been fined for driving under the influence of alcohol between last January and June. Similarly, 306 people were fined for speeding, 583 people were fined for driving without a seat belt, 13,715 people were fined for not wearing a helmet, 1711 people were fined for talking on a mobile phone while driving, while the driving license 1368 people were seized.
The discussion was held in the district road safety meeting held in the District Collector’s office today. The District Magistrate advised reducing road accident deaths in the district to zero and give priority to public safety. The traffic police have been instructed to strictly impound the vehicles if they are driving without any documents.
Along with this, strict action should be taken against driving without a helmet, speeding, driving without a seat belt, and drunk drivers. Repair of bad roads, installation of various information boards, unauthorized road dividers, etc. were also discussed in the meeting.
In the meeting, Additional District Collector Ajambar Mohanty, Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation Commissioner Vedbhusan, Sadar Upazilapal Prabhas Dansena, IAS Probationary Sneha Arugul, District Chief Medical Officer Dr. Punchandra Sahu, Regional Transport Officer Ramdas Tudu, members of various institutions including National Highway Authority were present.
